The Sustainable Journey of Our Raw Materials at Just Paper Tubes

At Just Paper Tubes (JPT), we are deeply committed to sustainability in every facet of our business operations. Understanding the origins of our raw materials and ensuring their eco-friendly credentials is paramount to us. Here’s a detailed look at where our materials come from and how we ensure they meet the highest standards of environmental responsibility.

100% recycled content coreboard
Coreboard Production

Coreboard

Our coreboard is sourced exclusively from 100% recycled paper. This vital component of our paper tubes and cores is procured from paper mills that not only prioritise the recycling ethos but also hold accreditations such as the Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) or equivalent certifications in their localities. This ensures that the paper used in our coreboard contributes to the circular economy, reducing waste and avoiding the use of virgin materials.

Outer Liners

Most of the outer liners of our tubes are crafted from Brown Virgin Kraft paper, which is FSC certified and certified safe for contact with food. While prioritising recycled materials is a cornerstone of our sustainability strategy, the use of virgin Kraft paper is essential for applications requiring the highest standards of cleanliness and strength, particularly in the food industry. This choice reflects our commitment to product safety and environmental responsibility.

Boxes

The cardboard boxes used to package our tape and label cores are made from 100% recycled waste paper and sourced from FSC accredited suppliers. This ensures that our boxes are produced responsibly, supporting sustainable practices and economic viability while minimizing our environmental impact.

Recyclability and Plastic Use

Sustainability doesn’t stop at the source. Our commitment extends into the afterlife of our products. All our tubes and cores are fully recyclable within the cardboard and paper recycling streams. This means that once they have served their purpose, they can be recycled again into new paper products, thereby continuing the cycle and reducing the need for new raw materials. Additionally, our shrink wrap contains more than 30% recycled content, reducing our dependence on virgin plastics and supporting the recycling industry.

On Site

At Just Paper Tubes, we proudly meet nearly 38% of our energy requirements through our on-site solar installations, with the remainder of our electricity needs fulfilled by zero-carbon sources. We are committed to zero waste, successfully diverting 100% of our waste from landfill and recycling 97% of it.

Conclusion

At Just Paper Tubes, we believe in taking a holistic approach to sustainability. From carefully selecting our raw materials to ensuring that our final products are recyclable, every step in our process is designed to minimise environmental impact. Our use of FSC-accredited and recycled materials underscores our commitment to environmental stewardship and showcases our dedication to leading the industry towards a more sustainable future.

We are proud to provide our customers with products that are not only of the highest quality but also environmentally responsible. As we continue on this journey, we remain dedicated to improving our sustainability practices and reducing our footprint, one paper tube at a time.
