JPT are proud to announce their latest expansion phase: an 800 square meter warehouse equipped with a state-of-the-art drying facility. The pioneering new technology will ensure the company continues to be the best in class for lead times and cement its position as the industry leader for customer service.
Additionally, JPT will showcase a special-purpose cardboard tube, designed especially for the asphalt industry. The design, which allows asphalt to be poured into it in molten state & the special coating on the inside of the cardboard core enables the core to be easily removed from the asphalt when it solidifies, it’s a UK first. Incredibly the inquiry arrived on Thursday & the client will receive prototypes the following Monday.
To open the new facilities, the Right Honorable Nigel Adams, Lord Commissioner of the Treasury and MP for Selby and Ainsty, paid a visit to meet the staff and management of the local business.
A business that has provided stable employment in the area and contributed to the local community both through charitable and educational endeavors.
JPT took the opportunity to discuss important issues with Nigel Adams, such as employment and green initiatives.
During his visit, employees had an opportunity to meet with Nigel and provide him with a site tour; providing an insider view of their products and processes at the new facility. Nigel was also lucky enough to see the first production run of the recently developed special-purpose cardboard tube. Using recycled materials, this product ticks all boxes in JPT’s commitment toward innovation that is both environmentally-friendly and cost-effective for its customers.
Steve Piggott, Sales Director at Just Paper Tubes and one JPT’s longest serving employees highlighted during the tour how “Our commitment is to high quality cardboard tubes with a quick turnaround so that we can always meet our customers’ needs. Our high level of infrastructure and 24 hours operation means that we can turn our customers’ orders around within hours, not days.
This means that they can meet their deadline, whether it be the building industry or food manufacturers and supermarkets!”.
Nigel was very interested in how Just Paper Tubes maintained a ‘green’ approach in the area of production. He was particularly impressed that JPT uses 100% recycled paper for the raw material of all products.
Among the many topics discussed was the topic of ‘moving away from single-use plastic’. Plastic is turning out to the single most polluting and toxic material for the environment. With mass production and consumption, there is now a pressing need for manufacturers and consumers to consciously take steps to move away from single-use plastics, and look toward cardboard tubes as a replacement.
Nigel was quite interested in JPT’s other initiatives to reduce its own environmental impact and lower its carbon footprint. Harry Coates, Director at Just Paper Tubes showed Nigel the progress being made using biomass and solar energy to realise this goal. Amongst the many achievements in this area is the move to ‘paperless’ operations for supply chain management, using advanced computer systems to manage raw materials and place & track orders.
Another area of interest to Nigel were the various challenges faced by the cardboard tube industry.The topic of paper availability was brought up by Ken Coates, Managing Director of Just Paper Tubes . Ken and his team were keen to discuss the issues around paper availability in the UK, and supply and demand imbalance brought about through factors such as the closing down of major paper manufacturing facilities and the rise in global demand stemming from massive e-commerce growth. Ken highlighted that “there are likely to be huge price shifts and supply consequences for the UK market.”
During the visit, the topic of Brexit was broached briefly in relation to its impact on JPT being able to import recycled paper from the EU. While Just Paper Tubes does not have export operations outside the UK, the EU is naturally an important market for customers of JPT’s tubes and cardboard cores, whether that be in the label and tape, textile or construction industries.
At the conclusion of his visit to the new facility, Nigel commented ““It has been fantastic to visit Just Paper Tube Ltd, a local company who have been growing for the past 30 year with continuous investment in their facilities, providing long term local employment. It was incredibly interesting to explore with the team the vital role the cardboard industry can play in reducing the need for plastics, and how companies like Just Paper Tubes LTD can provide innovative solutions to some of the problems we face in terms of packaging and the environment.”
